Discovery trip in Val d'Hérens - from cows to raclette

Description

In the afternoon or evening, you arrive by your own means in Evolène and take the keys of your accommodation, the rural Gîte La Péniche at Clos-Lombard Farm. Catherine and Marius Pannatier welcome you with a small aperitif. In the evening, you can enjoy your meal in one of the village's restaurants, considered to be among the most beautiful in Switzerland. 

The next morning, you can wake up to the milking of the cows and enjoy a glass of fresh milk from the farm. At the gîte, you will then enjoy a local breakfast. Then Marius Pannatier invites you to discover his native cows. He will tell you about the Hérens breed, which is so special and endearing.

After the visit to the farm, you leave for a hike to Les Haudères (4 km, 1h15 on a groomed path). On the spot, you will enjoy a regional meal at the Dents de Veisivi restaurant and then go to the adjacent Les Haudères cheese factory to discover its secrets. In the afternoon, you return to Evolène at your leisure, by post bus or on foot. In the evening, you will enjoy a wood-fired raclette in a village restaurant.

The following morning, you will have a local breakfast at the gîte and will have the day at your disposal for skiing (alpine, cross-country or hiking) or snowshoeing.
